Mito,Sensei Has been a martial arts student for over 30 years.he has trained in Tae Kwon Do,Shoto-Kan,kendo,Iai-do,Kyudo,Aiki-ju-jitsu and in Mas Oyama's Kyokushinki and was a Uchi Deshi, a live in student of H. Yamamoto, Sensei in the World Oyama Karate Org.in his early 40's he was diagnosed with Cancer of the larynx (not a somker) he had a total laryngectome and radiation therapy. However this did'nt keep him from pursuing his martial arts career. he competed in many Full Contact Knockdown Tournaments where he took 1st and 2nd place from 2001 to 2003 in NYC and Canada. Mito, Sensei was employed with NYCDOT Arterial Highway Emergency Respone Unit from 1978 to his retirement in 2002.His most important accomplishment was his involvement in the aftermath of September 11,2001, for which he received a Certificate of appreciation from Rudolph W.Giuliani Mayor of NYC and Iris Weinshall, Commissioner of the NYCDOT 9/11 will be for him as will as for millions of Americans,a day he will never forget.
